The Chiropractor vs. PT Rivalry (That Doesn't Actually Exist)

The supposed turf war between chiropractic and physical therapy that launched the podcast — and keeps getting undercut by the fact that Jason and Kathy agree on almost everything.

The premise of the PTCH Podcast is, on paper, conflict: a chiropractor and a physical therapist walk into a room and argue about musculoskeletal care. The problem, as Jason admitted in the one-year anniversary episode, is that “we agree on too much.”

In the pilot episode, Jason laid out the unspoken dynamic honestly: chiropractors have historically been envious of physical therapists for weaseling their way into mainstream healthcare. Physical therapists, from Jason’s view, “figured out a long time ago how to make money doing what they do.” Kathy’s take was more diplomatic.

The Jets-and-Sharks analogy came up early. Both hosts chose the Sharks. The rivalry, such as it is, mostly surfaces in Trigger Warning games and the occasional dig — like Kathy suggesting you only become a chiropractor if you couldn’t get into PT school, or Jason claiming he does “everything a physical therapist does and more.” Both delivered straight-faced. Neither meant it.

The actual thesis of the show: a good chiropractor and a good PT are hard to distinguish. They’re the same profession in different uniforms.
