PTCHes
What the show calls its people — the PTCH listener community, addressed directly and often.
PTCHes are the listeners — the show’s name for its audience and community, derived (with a cheeky near-homophone the hosts are well aware of) from PTCH itself. They get addressed directly and constantly: “All right, PTCHes, we’re back,” “All right, PTCHes, listen up,” and “thanks, PTCHes, for showing up.”
Becoming one is framed as an upgrade in status — “If you don’t want to be some sort of a loser anymore… you could be one of the PTCHes and join along.” And the hosts are quick to give them the credit: as Kathy puts it, “Really, it’s about them.” It’s a training arena, after all — for PTCHes everywhere.
